The policy question is broader than token price

Treasury material on the stablecoin market frames the topic through issuance, reserves, payment use and links to the broader digital-asset market. Congressional proposals add questions of federal and state oversight, consumer protections and issuer requirements.

That makes a stablecoin story a payments-policy story as much as a crypto-market story.

How to read a policy claim

A market-cap chart, a Treasury research document and a bill each do different work. The first describes a market; the second may analyze risk or structure; the third proposes legal rules. Good reporting names the document type before drawing a conclusion.

JAT’s Markets and Politics desks can cover the same event from different angles while pointing to the same primary source.

What evidence changes the status

A completed statute, a final agency rule or an official implementation notice is stronger than a policy speech or an introduced bill. The policy tracker should reflect that difference with a visible status field.
