A filing is not a single universal source

House and Senate financial-disclosure systems publish forms and instructions through different institutional channels. A report may be annual, a periodic transaction report or a new-filer record, and it may use ownership codes that need to stay attached to the claim.

JAT links the underlying record where available and preserves the reported range rather than converting statutory brackets into a claimed exact trade.

The key dates have different meanings

The trade date describes when a reported transaction occurred. The filing date describes when it entered the disclosure process. The publication date describes when a newsroom reported it. They should not be collapsed into one “date” field.

Those distinctions let readers evaluate delay and disclosure without asserting an unproven motive or violation.

Evidence standards protect the reporting

A disclosure is evidence of a reported record, not evidence of a current balance, profit, access to nonpublic information or wrongdoing. The headline and image treatment should remain as specific as the document.
